Hamilton watches are known for their great quality, precision and durability. The Hamilton Watch Company began making watches in 1892. Its most famous product is the pocket watch, but the company also made watches. Because of its reputation, Hamilton watches are a very desired object. It is important to identify because they are often worth a lot of money. Follow a road map to identify Hamilton watches.
Methods
- Look for the words “Hamilton” or “Hamilton Watch Co.” on the clock.
- Prints a table (or a table) showing the serial numbers of the grades and Hamilton watches. These tables can be easily found on Internet sites.
- Carefully open the watch case. If you’re not sure how, ask for help from a jeweler.
- Find the name Hamilton on the watch movement. The movement is inside (or gear) inside the watch.
- Write the serial number you find in the gear. It is often located at the edge of it, but this can vary. When I find you, find it in the box that has a list of serial numbers for Hamilton. For example, the 1893 Hamilton watches have serial numbers between 1 and 2000.
- Write any number (and letters) preceding the serial numbers on the gear. The Hamilton watches included in the 20 degrees. EL degree generally includes three numbers that are occasionally followed by a letter. The degree is the quality of the watch, and the amount of work that I do. Compare grades (and letters) with a table that has a list of brands of degrees of Hamilton. A watch with a Hamilton grade 979 was made between 1934 and 1951. A degree of 980B tells you that the watch was made between 1937 and 1946.
- Compare the clock with photos of Hamilton watches. These pictures are available on Internet sites and in several books. These could not completely confirm that this is a Hamilton watch, but can give you an idea. Once you know when it was done the clock using serial numbers and grades, compare it to the pictures of Hamilton watches that year.
- Take the watch to a watch seller. Also, when you buy, ask the papers with the date and warranty.
